“What If?” When Caution Becomes a Cage
When a Part of You That Wants Safety, Holds You Back
This can show up in many different areas of life; relationships, work, moving house, making a big decision or simply wanting something to be different. You may find yourself at a point where part of you is ready for change, while another part feels more comfortable with what is familiar.
Imagine having a secure job with a steady income and predictable routine that has become limiting and uninspiring. You may enjoy parts of the work, but don't feel valued for what you bring. Micromanagement leaves little room to use your skills or grow.
Somewhere inside, you know it's time for a change, but the "what if?" questions come tumbling into your awareness and become limiting.
Questions like:
What if I leave and regret it?
What if I can't find another job that’s a better fit?
What if I lose my financial security?
What if I'm making a terrible mistake?
Before long, the fear of failure can become so loud, it overrides an intuitive knowing that something needs to change.
